چکیده

Abstract Background Colorectal cancers develop through several pathways, including the adenoma–carcinoma sequence and colitis-associated carcinogenesis. An altered intestinal microflora has been reported to be associated with development progression of colorectal cancer via these pathways. We identified Lactobacillus casei -derived ferrichrome as a mediator bacterial anti-tumor effect cells upregulation DDIT3. In this study, we investigated effects on precancerous conditions sporadic well cancer. Methods SRB MTT assays were performed assess growth inhibition in vitro. Eighteen organoids prepared from biopsy specimens obtained by colonoscopy. AOM-DSS carcinogenesis model xenograft generated for assessment tumor suppressive vivo. Results Ferrichrome inhibited cell vitro vivo models. exerted strong tumor-suppressive that was superior currently available agents, 5-FU cisplatin, both The combination single treatment either drug. confirmed DDIT3 patient-derived adenoma carcinoma. while exhibiting no anti-inflammatory DSS-colitis model, suggesting cells, but not condition, pathway. Conclusions exerts mediated DDIT3, or cisplatin. These results suggest brevis may candidate drug neoplasms.

Study of FGF14 gene expression and cancer progression in colorectal cancer tissue samples

Background: Colorectal cancer is one of the main causes of cancer death and the third most common malignant cancer worldwide. FGF14 is a member of the large family of fibroblast growth factors. These factors control a wide range of biological functions, including cell proliferation, survival, migration and differentiation that disturbing their expression can lead to cancer. The purpose of this ...

CYP1A1, CYP2E1 and EPHX1 polymorphisms in sporadic colorectal neoplasms

AIM To investigate the contribution of polymorphisms in the CYP1A1, CYP2E1 and EPHX1 genes on sporadic colorectal cancer (SCRC) risk. METHODS Six hundred forty-one individuals (227 patients with SCRC and 400 controls) were enrolled in the study. The variables analyzed were age, gender, tobacco and alcohol consumption, and clinical and histopathological tumor parameters. The CYP1A1*2A, CYP1A1*...

Long non-coding RNA LINC00959 predicts colorectal cancer patient prognosis and inhibits tumor progression

Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are increasingly implicated in tumorigenesis and cancer progression. This study focused on the relationship between the lncRNA LINC00959 and colorectal cancer (CRC). We found that LINC00959 expression was lower in CRC tissues than normal colorectal mucosae. High LINC00959 expression was negatively associated with TNM stage, distant metastasis, and lymphatic metast...

Probiotic-derived ferrichrome inhibits colon cancer progression via JNK-mediated apoptosis

Previous reports have suggested that some probiotics inhibit tumorigenesis and cancer progression. However, the molecules involved have not yet been identified. Here, we show that the culture supernatant of Lactobacillus casei ATCC334 has a strong tumour-suppressive effect on colon cancer cells. Using mass spectrometry, we identify ferrichrome as a tumour-suppressive molecule produced by L. cas...

Oxidative stress and tumor progression in colorectal cancer.

BACKGROUND/AIMS Elevated oxidative status has been found in many types of cancer cells. Recent studies have shown that the enzymatic product of thymidine phosphorylase (TP) generated reactive oxygen species (ROS) within cancer cells. The aim of this study was thus to evaluate the signal transduction pathway and the role of ROS in colorectal cancer. METHODOLOGY Blood specimens were obtained fr...
